When you're a teenager, everything feels like the end of the world - especially moving to a new town in the middle of the school year. What Kelly doesn't know is that her family is finally where they are meant to be. When they move in across the street from an abandoned house, Kelly gets a weird feeling, almost as if she's been there before. The place holds secrets about her family that are just waiting to be discovered. Along with her new friend Emma, she embarks on a journey of discovery. What [...]

Finally HomeAuthor: Elysabeth ElderingUprooting a teenager just when things are starting to look up for her can be traumatic, upsetting and definitely not endear you to your teenage child. Kelly Watson is not happy about moving to a new town leaving her newly found crush and her chance for social advancement. Just when Kelly is going to get the starring role in her school play she has to move. Not only that but she left her best friend since first grade and now her father’s company has moved t [...]

Thirteen-year-old Kelly wants to save the old houses her father is supposed to tear down. She has managed to do it once before. Now, in her new neighborhood, she feels compelled to do it again. This is a fun story about a young girl finding her way in life. The paranormal twist adds mystery and suspense to this young adult drama. I enjoyed Kelly's spirited independence. I would have liked more development with the parents' characters and their relationship with Kelly. But, overall, this is a fun [...]

Eldering's novel possessed many of my favorite story elements. The coming of age, the undying friendship, cool adult figures, and a bit of spook! The second half of Finally home was a definite four stars for me, though I took a while to connect with the main character. I am excited to see if this Author has - as expected - hit her stride in number two in the Kelly Watson series.

This is a really great YA book. It keeps you reading and is hard to put down. The characters are excellent and the plot is very interesting. I highly recommend this book. Even adults would like this one. It's similiar to the Nancy Drew books except it has a mild paranormal flavor to it.

I was surprised at the way the story turned--it was not what I was expecting initially. I really enjoyed this delightful book for juniors.
