When starting this book I honestly had no idea it was steampunk or that there had been a book prior to this one however I jumped in with both feet and what a exciting jump it was. Right from the beginning you are caught up in the exhilerating mystery. Sophia de Vargas is a strong character that you can easily latch on to. I loved the European setting and the injection of time travel that brings in a historical aspect as well. Alittle romance thrown in for good measure but certainly not a dominat [...]

If you love action books filled with danger, suspense, mystery and twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seats, but also like myself love when a bit of paranormal gets mixed it then this is the book for you.Annie Seaton is one of the best author of our time and she delivers every time. Be it a good old fashioned romance or a steam-punk or call it paranormal action suspense, you name it this author can give me as reader everything I expect from her books. In Summer of the moon flower she [...]

I read WINTER OF THE PASSION FLOWER, the first in the de Vargas family series, before turning to this one so I knew what I was in for, meaning the automata and dirigibles didn’t take me by surprise. The story follows the younger of two sisters, Sofia, as fair as her older sister Indigo from Summer flower is dark. Indigo lives in Cornwall UK, Sofia in Vienna. She is as committed to science as her sister but given that she’s seeking immortality it’s a pursuit she’s keeping to herself lest h [...]

Having only recently been introduced to the steampunk genre, I think I'm now - officially - hooked. Victorian Era sensibilities, combined with steam machines of all varieties is simply too much fun to ignore. Indigo's perambulator, alone, is worthy of a least one belly laugh.Add in some mystery, intrigue, time travel, the Knights Templar, a good old-fashioned romance and Welcome to Summer of the Moon Flower. The second book in the de Vargas Family series follows younger sister, Sofia. Although, [...]

SUMMER OF THE MOON FLOWER by Annie Seaton is a worthy successor to WINTER OF THE PASSION FLOWER. This time we meet Sofia de Vargas, the younger sister of the more famous Indigo, the country matron and mother of four boisterous sons whom we last saw, pre-settling down, time travelling in the jungle. And no, she wasn't looking for free books (bad joke), she was searching for the elusive passion flower which held potent properties within - properties worth killing for. Well, Sofia is on no less a [...]

Summer Of The Moon Flower was such a great read for me. First I have to say I LOVE Steam Punk books. Lord the twists and turns and the descriptions in this book had me plastered to my seat and I had to stay where I was to finish reading it.What would you do if you had to chose between Immortality or Love? Would you chose love? Love can hold many things for you and to have that special person by your side can mean everything. But on the other hand Immortality, Immortality means you live forever a [...]

Annie Seaton delivers again with the second book in the de Vargas family steampunk series. This time, it is the turn of Sofia, the younger sister, established as a haut couturier in Vienna, but moonlighting (pardon the pun) as a member of the laboratory continuing her father's scientific research. Her pursuit of the moonflower for its life-prolonging properties places her life in jeopardy when an ancient order of Knights orders her demise for her work. Pursued by the Earl of Rothmore, she is pul [...]

I didn't know when I downloaded this that it was the second book in The de Vargas Family series, if I had I'd have gone out and gotten the first book, Indigo's story, and read it first as I'm sure it would have helped me understand this one a little more. That being said, it wasn't that hard to understand the storyline but all the flower and chemical talk went over my head. I had no idea what was going on at those bits. The romance was kinda sweet but at the same time I didn't really understand it [...]

The magic of a couple of kiltsI liked the first book in this series, so I had to get the second. I applaud Ms Seaton for putting her hero in a kilt. There's something about a man in tartand evidently Sofia is far from immune to it, either.A touch more steampunk and a little less steam than the first book in the series, I think I liked Sofia more than Indigo, though I didn't understand her motivation for the trip in the rowboat. That felt a little contrived to fuel the plot, as her actions at tha [...]

3.5 stars. Steampunk with a twist, set around the turn of the century (Victoria, not Elizabeth). It was certainly an interesting premise, and after my confusion lifted -- which as it turns out, was justified since this is the second book in the series, it turned into an enjoyable read. My issues are the book was too short, the climax was incredibly short-lived, and the resolution was rushed through.

Another great book in the series! I really enjoyed reading about Sophia's couture business and secret missions. How she comes into contact with Dougal. Seeing how her sister Indigo and her husband Zane have been since the first book, not to mention the Grimoults! I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I haven't been swept away by the steampunk phenomena, mostly because there are other genres that hold my current attention. This book surprised the hell out of me. Well written, fun, and fresh, I'm so glad I took a chance and grabbed it.
