Brooklyn was an okay character, and I felt quite sorry for her. Waking up from a two year coma would be tough enough, without having to go on the run! This wasn't a bad read, but I did end up losing interest a bit. Thankfully it wasn't that long, so it wasn't too bad.

Intriguing concept and I enjoyed reading it. I don't usually post opinions because I think we all get what we want out of a good book. But in this case, not only is the story honest but it is a reality we may all face in the future - a grim one but entirely believable.I loved this story and found it very easy to read. Highly recommend it. I couldn't put it down!

If you are looking for an easy to read adventure story, I recommend this fun filled novel about a future where americans have all been implanted with micro chips, which dull the senses of everyone and make them pretty much do anything the government says. The concept is interesting and the message that we should protect our freedoms and not surrender to the anti terorism threat by giving up our hard earned individual rights, is very topical and important. The heroine has been in a coma for two y [...]

Imagine that you're badly injured in a car accident that puts you in a coma and when you wake up two years later the world has changed and not in a good way. This is the basic premise of Ann Rasico's book "When the Chips are Down" and it's a scary look at what could very well happen in the not-too-distant future as more and more Americans become more and more willing to surrender basic freedoms in exchange for the illusion of freedom. In this nightmare world of the future just a few years from n [...]

My review of this book. I gave it a five star rating on and GoodReads because I enjoyed it. The story is a thought provoking Dystopian book about a young woman (Brooklyn) that goes into a coma after a car accident and wakes up two years later finding her world changed due to the implant of chips in everyone over eighteen. One of close friends helps her escape the hospital before they can insert the chip in her. He was one of those that saw how the people with the chips changed. Becoming pacifie [...]

This book was SO much fun and what a surprise! I came across this book on facebook and the cover immediately grabbed me. It is so fabulous and right on with the storyline. Nice job on the cover!!The main character Brooklyn was so fun because she just awoke from a coma and has no idea how long she has been in it. Come to find out not only has her family moved, but the entire world has changed. It has become controlled by microchips implanted in society. She is lucky enough to have a few friends w [...]

It sounded interesting, and it was a nice idea in theory, but I just couldn't get into it. The overly fast-paced story-telling style was bland, the dialogues were unnatural, and none of the characters had any interesting spark to them. The cover is cute though

The story plot was a good one, but this didn't have the polished feel that outstanding authors seem to achieve so effortlessly.

I'm not a big sci-fi fan but I liked this one. It has that stick it to the man kind of vibe that so many of us can relate to! We are the 99%!

A cinematic thriller.A girl in a coma for two years trying to piece herself together isn't exactly an original idea, but it works here as a page-turning, cinematic thriller.
