This was a super short read, the mini story follows Mike Kennedy who makes a wager with his friends in Cambridge to show that his hometown of Tide's Way, North Carolina really is as kind and goodhearted as he believes them to be.Mike wagers that if there was a homeless person in his hometown, the people would be kind enough to bring him food. Mike uses his spring break to go spend a week disguised as a homeless man. After three days he is beginning to feel discouraged, until someone leaves him a [...]

      > > > I have received this book as an ARC from the publisher. < < <> > > In exchange, I promised an honest review. < < < Actually, I never read Short Stories. So this one was one of my firsts. It really is a nice story based on a lovely and true perception. I am sure that this short story could be the basis for a full length novel to create an even better story which has better "access to the hearts" of its readers. There are some very nice lines included which [...]

A very short story about Michael Kennedy and his wager with his college buddies from Harvard that his home town of Tide’s Way wouldn’t allow a homeless person to go hungry or live on the streets. He is positive that they would be brought in out of the cold and offered a hot meal but days into his experiment and not having one person stop by, he’s beginning to lose hope. I only gave this story 4 stars because it literally takes less than five minutes to read.

Skye Taylor tells a heartwarming story. “Mike’s Wager” gives readers not only a peak at a very real segment of American population, but also the benefit of being from Small Town USA. I would have liked to have seen this explored more in depth, but the impact of a Harvard student learning a valuable lesson resounds nonetheless. This story, magazine length, is available from BelleBooks and Bell Bridge Books as of May 31, 2015.

***ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***Umis wasn't really a romance nor a novella. A VERY short story about a college wager on the generosity of a small-town. One will win. Uh, cute?
