A good and concise biography of the man that most people regard as one of the, if not the greatest Presidents of the United States. My only quibble might be with the assessment of the causes of the Civil War as being state rights rather than slavery in the beginning, as this issue has been a contentious one in modern day America. On the whole, though, a good introduction.

So often people want to learn about famous historical figures but do not have the time or patience to read a long book. Here is an example of a short book full of facts, a book that is both informative and enjoyable to read. The publisher, Hourly History LTD, specializes in these short books that most people can read in about an hour’s time. There is definitely a place for concise history books like this one.Abraham Lincoln was one of the most hated Presidents during his time in office. He gre [...]

Concise but comprehensiveThe book gives a good overview of Lincoln's life but includes a sprinkling of detail that leaves the reader with a great deal of insight into the man as well as the president. It would have been nice if some of his more important speeches had been included in their entiretyeven in an appendix for referral in more depth.

This book is quick and to the point. You get a factual view of lincolns life, highlighting the major key events. There is very little insight into his private life, but you can't expect too much detail considering the book was designed to be read in an hour. This is basically a summary of his life in one hours time. A good, solid, quick read.

Many ThanksAn insightful short read of this hero's journey in this world. I was left with a clear understanding of the timeframe and historical setting of his life and the other figures of his time.

An interesting but pretty basic account of Abraham Lincoln's life, I felt this glossed over a lot of the aspects that needed more detail even within the premise of "hourly history" - there's more detail on ! I'd read more of this series but will also read more on Lincoln's life elsewhere.

Basically a high school reportExpected more from this brief look at Lincoln. It was a shirt report not unlike text book. Did not learn anything new and it us best suited for a young reader wishing to know something about this great man.

A simple book about the 16th US president, probably the most famous president after George Washington, the 1st president just after the revolution, that explains, without exposing, some aspects of Lincoln’s life. You will be interested in the chapters about his parents, about his young life as the son a his father and stepmother, working up to the age of 21 for them more than for himself; not getting the education he wanted; and yet taking the final decision of leaving his family and living hi [...]
