This book had alot more emotional angst than I thought it would. I have read several of Willa's books, some are much better than others, but this one in particular surprised me by the rollercoaster of emotions I felt while I read it.Tolliver had to grow up fast. When he was 18 he lost his parents under tragic circumstances. Because of this, he fought to care for and won the guardianship of Sarah, his 9 year old sister. Now, six years later he runs the bookshop that once belonged to his mother, a [...]

3 stars. It dragged a little from start to almost the end where it suddenly wraps up tidily. Daisiemae's review gives all the details so I won't need to repeat it.While I do like to spend time in characterization, I'm still more of an action-suspense fan so an entire story getting in touch with the emo side of the protagonists is too much for me. If you enjoy such romances, though, LD&M would be a good one to read.

Tolliver’s parents died when Tolliver was only eighteen and his sister, Sarah, was only nine. Since then, he’s spent all his time, energy and effort into raising his sister and taking care of their bookstore which has been passed down in their family for generations. Tolliver is a quiet man, happy in his life and hard working, foregoing personal time and pleasure to ensure he takes care of his responsibilities. All of his careful plans and ideas are shaken when Noble starts to stop by the st [...]

In a small town USA Tolliver is the manager of an antique curiosity and bookshop. The real owner is his ward, his little sister Sarah, the one he became responsible for when he was only 18 years old; six years later, Sarah is a troubled teenager who had to give in adoption her daughter. Tolliver tried to do his best, but still he was only a teenager himself, and he was not ready to be a parent. He is now scared to let Sarah go, he is like a mother hen and when he is not worried for his sister, h [...]

Interesting characters make for a solid readWarning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS. Rating: 7/10PROS: - Lovely depiction of the gentle, patient seduction of a skittish guy who doesn’t WANT to connect with anyone else.- All of the sex is graphic and hot. The first encounter is slow and nervous and timid and delicious. And each sex scene is a little more involved or goes a little further than the one before.- Noble is a unique character. He does and says that are v [...]

There were just too many things that dragged here that kept me from giving this 4 stars. The "see" thing was annoying at the beginning but it made sense after it was made clear why there was emphasis. Putting so much focus on it later on didn't make as much sense since we already knew about him by then. Then there was taking too long, pages, on something that should have reasonably been a paragraph or two at the most. Tolliver is freaking out and about to leave and Noble doesn't make it clear qu [...]

Unfortunately for me this story dragged on and on. I don't know what was more annoying, constantly reading the word "see" or Tolliver's idiocy. There were several facets that I did not like about this book. For example, the author makes it feel as though the two main characters are holding secret conversations that the reader is not privy to, nor does the author explain. Toviller will ask Noble "Promise me" Noble's response is "I promise" and then they proceed to make out. What is he promising? [...]

Tolliver has no life. He takes care of his younger sister and manages the bookstore she will one day own, but outside of that. Noble has unique gift, a secret past and the key to Tolliver's heart. Noble "Sees" that his future is with Tolliver. Can he convince Tolliver to give them a chance? This is a gorgeous story that blends the ordinary and the extraordinary into a fabulous mix that captivates and entertains. The characters are interesting and well developed. In fact, one of the secondary cha [...]

It is a totally frustrating book. You can not tell how it is going to end till you get to almost the last page. There are so many ups and down. You feel so much emotion for all the characters. You just want everything to turn out good. I started the book around 10 pm one evening and I could not stop reading until 6 the next morning. I just had to know what was going to happen. This is one that you will want to take the time and read.

OK - look at this as almost an adult fairy-tale. Tolliver has immersed himself into being Sarah's surrogate parent, to the point of being cold and unreceptive to any light in his life. But Noble - for better or for worse, storms the walls of his self-imposed walls - and like a true knight breaches the walls and forces Tolliver to confront himself. Sarah is a very good secondary character, and Joey (ah, poor Joey) plays his part as wellHO an excellent read.

    12. Annie

Tolliver and Noble are set up by Tolliver's sister Sarah. Of course, Tolliver is the last to know because he is always working. Mysterious Noble sees in Tolliver the chance to recapture the family he once lost and as a seer he is able to see that a future with Tolliver is possible. It's interesting to see their relationship develop as Noble courts Tolliver and they struggle to create a relationship and eventually a family.

I really liked this story more than I thought I would when I first started reading it. Noble was a bit much with his "I see. You'll see" stuff (hence the 4 stars) and Tolliver seemed more grown up at the beginning than he did as the book went on but even so the two of them together felt right and had me going "awwww" or in parts shedding a tear this book had something it got me! I've read one other Willa Okati book I liked it too, I'll be looking to read more of hers.

There was something about this book that just didn't settle quite right. The characters didn't seem fully developed, and I really couldn't buy the love story. I actually found the one character kind of creepy and pushy. Even the conflicts felt forced and the resolutions were hollow. Sure there was a happily ever after but I didn't really care. This book had a lot of potential but it just fell flat.

    15. Sandra Moreno

An enjoyable story, if a little drawn out at times. I liked Tolliver's character because of his fierce loyalty to his sister. Very well written with alot happening to the main character that is new and unfamiliar to him so it was very interesting to see how it turned out for him, and how he dealt with all these new aspects in his life.

    16. Feliz

This was a sweet read. A 27 year old virgin who isn't aware he might be gay, his fifteen year old baby sister who already gave birth to a child, and a fascinating stranger who can see the future. Not very believable and with elements I usually don't care for overly much like fated love and insta-love, but nicely done. Recommended for the romantics out there.

    17. Indigo

3.75 - Mixed feelings explain the rating. Ok, I was touched, got emotional, but at the same time had a quite irresistible pull to slap faces, shouting GET REAL , GROW UP at Tolliver ! Sorry, one of those days.

    18. Ruth

The author went overboard with the animal imagery in this one. The word "leonine" was used 9 times to describe the character Noble, along with other annoying animal references. I do have to give Okati credit and say that the erotic scenes were very hot.

    19. Amanda

4.5, and absolutely odd read Odd in a good, what is this kind of way. Combination fairy tale (?), love story, and coming into his own. Couldn't put it down. Throughly enjoyed this one.
