that was just.ard. (view spoiler)[ The sex scene, more like a rape scene. She was complaining through the whole thing, and her facial expression seemed either scared, frightened or crying. (I seriously don't have to mention that when you have sex.you shouldn't have to say no over and over to get your partner to stopAND that you shouldn't be crying?)& do I have to mention that the metaphor wasightening. Thiswas gross, and felt wrong. While I was reading it, it felt awkward and not right. Ever [...]

The sex scene contains a visual metaphor of a hawk hunting, diving, and then tearing a piece of flesh off an unseen animal. I find this metaphor tasteless and disturbing. Is she being raped? No. But she cries the whole time and the idea that having her hymen broken by Kyo is the same as a predator killing its prey is abhorrent to me.

'Misao is the bride of prophecy whose blood gives power to the demon who claims her. But most demons want to keep her power for themselves - by eating her! Now Misao is just trying to stay alive'This volume was the second half of the Raikoh plot arc, though I'm pretty sure he'll be around for a while longer. :)The reason why this volume doesn't get five stars from me is that it was rather slow-paced, even though it should have been tense and dramatic. I mean, I was even able to put it down for a [...]

07 February 2013Rating: * * 1/2As I said in the last volume's review, Raikoh Watanabe is a presumptuous prick who needs a serious ass whooping. Black Bird, Volume 8 starts off with some predictable action and ends pretty blandly. I feel like in the last few volumes I have been waiting for something exciting to happen. There was a teeny taste of excitement when the demons descended, but it was over in a blink of an eye.(view spoiler)[The moment that this entire manga is based on, what everyone wo [...]

Finally! So glad they finally crossed the "consummation" hurdle. It will be interesting to see where the story goes from this point forward

Misao and Kyo finally consummate their love in this one - A long time coming but really nicely done - artwork is great. Talk about ending on a cliff hanger though Just how doomed are our lovers? Nice to see them get a little bit of happiness. Plot isn't bad either - we get a tense confrontation between Kyo and the fanatical demon hunter with empowered sword.

Okay. So this rating is complicated. I really overly enjoyed this one. The plot and art is greatEVER.This is rated "OT+" but it should seriously be rated "MA/Explicit" because seriously. The entire last chapter is smut. Very well drawn and detailed smut. So come on. Rate the series correctly, like oh my god.

Freaking Raikoh! He comes in sword blazing, screwing everything up. Misao tries to work things out with him, but he goes rogue. As much as it makes for a great plot point, he annoys the crap out of me. A bunch of things are all starting to happen at once and things are being set into motion. There's some significant developments between Kyo and Misao this volume as well.

    10. Zoe Tribley

As I continue to read- this series just keeps getting better and better. Along with the constant struggles of the heart, misao and kyou ensure constant enemies wanting to tear them apart. But they'll have none of dat shit!! LawlsHonestly and seriously thoughThis is a great series servicing fans but also just being a quick. Cute. And emotional read.Enjoy . ---Review- Number 2This review will be the same for all of them-- excluding book seventeen and eighteen-- as I'm going to briefly review books [...]

This volume was fine. It's been a while since I read the other volumes in the series - I probably should have re-read some of the build-up volumes instead of jumping right into this one. Misao and Kyo are still trying to figure out where to go with their relationship since they still don't have the full history on the Senka maiden. On guard against attacks from other demon clans looking to steal the Senka maiden, it's a surprise when the next attack comes not from other demons but from a human.D [...]

Black Bird volume 8 by Kanoko Sakurakouji5 starsSince I said in my last review of Black Bird volume 7 that I would talk about what this book is about instead of raving about it, here goes. Black Bird follows Misao a schoolgirl that can see demons and ghosts. One day she comes home and finds Kyo her long lost neighbor that she has no recollection about and he’s a tengu, a demon, and she’s the Senka Maiden a person demons will be after to gain power. OMG! I’m so addicted to Black Bird… I t [...]

Wow I'm actually pretty surprised with the ending. I figured for sure something magical would happen that would cure Kyo so things wouldn't come to that but I am a little excited because now there is a whole new set of problems Kyo and Misao will face (aka the story should still keep up the pace and not get boring! Hooray!!) Though, there is some part of me (the evil part) that is hoping that Misao and Kyo's plan won't work and it won't cure him. That would make me grin devilishly! Though of cou [...]

What a way to end a volume! 'I'm a demon, so I must behave like a demon! On to doing it!'Okay, I sort of debased what occured, but not by much. I felt that the scene lasted a tad too long. Was it necessary to see that grimicing face 5 times? No, it was not. And what about the lame-o plot leading towards the scene? Really? Poisoned (or well, blessed in this case) food, hidden swords, broken promises okay, putting it like that makes it seem really cool. But why does it still feel lame? Oh, I know, [...]

Raiko is determined to save Misao from Kyo insisting she is possessed! Finally Misao, gives up and talks with Kyo who decided to take drastic measures to protect Misao from Raiko and save their relationship. But things go wrong when Raiko hurts Misao and Kyo tries to clean her blood only to be poisoned by Raiku's holy water, the only way to save Kyo that Misao knows is my consummating their love and becoming his bride. So finally, Kyo and Misao finally make love and the prophecy of the Senka Maide [...]

Raikoh, the demon hunter in disguise, who has been living with Misao and her parents for a while now keeps urging Misao to break up with Kyo. Raikoh swears he will be the one to protect her, but so far that has not worked out quite according to his plans. When what was supposed to be a civil talk between demon and hunter turns into an assassination lead on by Raikoh. Kyo is forced between a rock and a hard spot, if you will, for in order to lift the curse Raikoh has put upon him Kyo must make th [...]

This is one of my favourite supernatural shōjo mangas! Misao sees somethings that other people can't, and if they could, they would be scared to death! Normally, the monsters would do small harmless things, such as pull her hair or jump on her bac. But on her sixteenth birthday, the creatures take it farther by trying to kill her, as her blood gave improve their lives. However, luckily she's saved by a lost childhood friend who has returned. His name is Kyo Usui, but he has a dark secret too. He [...]

Ask and ye shall receive. The next statement is probably considered spoilerish. I thought this would be like almost every other teen manga, which means no one important has sex until the last volume. I was apparently wrong. Although I’ve been hoping they’d get it over with soon so I wouldn’t have to read all the back and forth about it anymore, I didn’t think it would happen this soon. That said, manga sex is pretty awkward.Read more at Owl Tell You About It

    19. Reanne

Really, though, did she have to be cringing and crying the whole time they were having sex? The fact that she's so much smaller than him that she looks like a child is bad enough, not to mention that scene where they're talking about the possibility of having sex while in student/teacher mode. Was it too much to ask that the sex scene, if it must be there, actually be sexy rather than just creepy?

    20. Joti

OMG!!! STUPID RAIOKH THE DEMON HUNTER!!! PUT PURE WATER INTO MISAO'S FOOD SO SHE WAS POISONOUS TO KYO FOR SOME TIME AND HE PUT A SPELL ON KYO AND THEY CAN'T REMOVE IT!!! OMG AND AFTER MISAO'S BLOOD WAS BACK TO NORMAL AGAIN - HER AND KYO WERE LIKE HAVING SEX!!! OMG FINALLY!!! KYO WAS BEING SO GENTLE!!! IT WAS SO SWEET!!! OMG!! SEXIEST THING EVER!!!!MISAO & KYO!!!! OMGOMOGMOGMOG!! I HAVE THE 9TH VOLUME -CAN'T WAIT TO READ IT!

    21. Selena

I wasn't all that impressed with this one, but every time I say I'm going to drop this series, I end up going, "Eh, if the next volume sucks, then I'll quit." It's like Sakurakoji is taking the path of least resistance, going for mediocrity that's just barely good enough to keep people reading.Meh. Unless someone can give me a really good reason to keep going, I think I'm just going to stop reading this series.

    22. Bry

Oh the drama! The plot definitely thickened in this installment and the readers finally get to see a big moment that has been building since the first volume. It came off a lot more desperate, scary and sad than expected, but there are demons involved I guess.Either way this issue marks a turning point in the series as a line has been crossed that cannot be backed back over. From now on nothing is for sure and the characters will always be guessing.

    23. Jessica

That demon-hating houseguest at Misao's place really needs to go! His prejudicial attitude is as bad as those Southern racists who hate black people. This time his actions almost get Kyo killed, which would also kill Misao. However, the big question is will they or wont they, "do the deed"? Finally, after 8 volumes, the question is dealt with. A good volume and I can't wait or the next one!

    24. Jade

I loved this book, it gets more into the fight with the tenga kyo and the demon haterum well forgot his name. anyways it also gets more lovey dovey with misao and kyo. I would have to reccomend this book to the people who've read the other black bird volumes that come before this. the first book i'd have to reccomend to anyone who loves demons and love
