This is such an amazing book!!! I just bought it today at the BYU bookstore in Provo and finished it about 15 minutes ago. I absolutely loved it!! Not much else to say really. "Gifted" is an intriguing. When I first picked up this book, I never expected it to be like what it turned out. The ending made me cry! When I read the ending, it was almost as if someone physically slapped me in the face! I just couldn't believe it. I, sadly, am a person who partially judges books by their cover; even so, [...]

Amazing must read! Sometimes when an LDS writer brings in the gospel into a plot it can be a little off balanced to the story line, but this novel was the perfect balance. It just seemed natural how the gospel was intertwined with the story. A couple who couldn't have children, finally have the opportunity to adopt a baby whose parents are killed in an automobile accident. They charish "Anna" from the beginning. They notice somethings different about her presence, but can't quite put their finge [...]

I can't decide exactly how I feel about this book. It was different than anything I've ever read before-- LDS fiction with a bit of light paranormal twist. It was told like a true story, which made it feel a little long at times. And the end was abrupt, but did tie in well. It's a good unique read. I picked it up because I loved her other book; this is a very different kind of story though.

Wow. Where to begin with my review of this book? It is very well written, so descriptive in parts that I could visualize the scenes and people she was describing. The premise of this gifted girl, gifted in a more surreal way, could have been cheesy and poorly done, but it's not. The author makes it very believable. I was extremely impressed in this story as a first book for the author. My friend's sister wrote this book and my friend has chosen it for book club this month. I'm excited to see in [...]

Gifted by Karey White “What do you do when you’re in the presence of a phenomenon, someone with special and inexplicable gifts? Do you point it out in others? Do you acknowledge those gifts? Do you ignore them? Or do you downplay the differences, pretend they aren’t there? And what do you do if that marvel is your own sweet little girl, the one who plays with her food and sings herself to sleep, the one with a giggle that sounds like music and ponytails that bounce when she walks? Does her [...]

I won this book here on and I enjoyed it very much! It was fantastic! It's a wonderful story about a baby who was adopted by a family who couldn't have a baby. And this baby is not an ordinary baby. She is ''Gifted''. She brings peace and calm to people and everybody around her. It's a very heart touching story about family, love and true friendship. The book presents Anna as she grows up and the positive influences she has on others. A true friendship developes between her and Kelsey. She love [...]

[7/2/12: I just changed my 4 star rating to 5 stars because I find myself thinking about this book and recommending it to friends. To me, that's the sign of a great book!] I loved the perspective I gained from reading this book. Anna has special gifts, one of them being that people learn more easily when she's around. What could be bad about that, right? Written from Anna's mother's perspective, Gifted points out the positives and negatives of Anna's gifts and how it was sometimes difficult to k [...]

I loved this book! Two things that pulled me in initially was the story of this couple adopting their little girl (our first 2 kids are adopted), and that the little girl, Anna, was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico (I was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico). What kept me reading is the way this story was so beautifully written. What parent doesn't consider their life changed when they have their first child? What parent doesn't think that their children aren't the most beautiful, talented, and gifted [...]

This is a wonderful little book. Karey White has woven and great tale with intrigue and wonder throughout. It grabbed me right from the beginning and took me on a wonderful journey. It's intriguing because she said it is based on real events. The story follows the Weller family from their experience adopting a new baby and watching her grow. During the years they notice there is something special about Anna. She never gets hurt and things look differents around her. People quit arguing when she c [...]

This book was a great little read. Not only does it touch on the journey of infertility and adoption, but also the gift of friendship and looking out for "the one" who needs you the most. While we probably don't have the same gifts that Anna possessed, I know our world would certainly be a different place if we were slow to anger, more compassionate, full of charity, we chose to see the good in others, and we were more understanding of the world around us. When I first rated the book, I gave it [...]

A great first novel from Karey White. Although this is not my usual genre, I found the premise very well thought out and a fascinating subject for the book. Dialog is believable and helped shape the characters. I gave the book 4 stars because I felt the ending was a bit rushed. I would have liked to see more developments leading up to the finale. But overall a very satisfying read! Disclaimer: I know Karey and am a big fan of her blog, which you should not miss.

This book follows Susan and Brent and their adopted daughter, Anna as she is growing up. Anna is "gifted" in unique ways and it was enjoyable discovering her gifts along with her family. I really enjoyed it and recommend this book to anyone who wants to be taken on a journey through life with some great characters.

First off, I LOVE this cover. It has to be one of my all-time favorites, and it's a perfect match for the beautiful, intriguing story contained within. Karey writes with a charming, easy-going style, and heartwarming characters. A wonderful read.

    15. Ann

Anna is a special child, and is so loving and selfless. She makes the ultimate sacrifice for her best friend. It made me wonder if we could all do the same if given the same circumstances. Great book!

    16. Lisa

    17. Marie

Enjoyable idea, of a "gifted" child who makes everything better. We can all do this to some extent if we so choose.

    18. Lola

I really loved this book and recommend it to anyone. Even though I am not even close to the age of motherhood I still made a connection to the insights and lessons in Gifted. Beautifully Done!

Excellent first novel by author Karey White. Although not my usual genre-- I'm a fantasy/sci-fi/horror guy-- I was drawn in to the uniqueness of the story. In many ways it reminded me of the background to a superhero story (think superman or X-men). I enjoyed thinking though the situations presented in the book and trying to image how I would handle being the parent of such a "gifted" child. Would I exploit the gifts (intentionally or otherwise)? Would I recognize the gifts? Would I talk about i [...]

This story was a lot different than I expected. Brent and Susan are unable to have children and adopt a baby who was orphaned when her parents died in a car crash. As time goes on, they recognize that Anna has some very special gifts. I loved the way the story was told--almost like journal entries that spanned the growing-up years. Susan was a terrific mother and I loved how she, Brent, and Anna took a little neglected girl, Kelsey, under their wings and helped her to soar and feel loved. Anna w [...]

I tried reading this book but it was just so boring. I read it until I couldn't stand it anymore which was page 105. I then skipped to the last 2 chapters and I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anything. The book is about a girl named Anna who has this special gift that makes people automatically stop fighting once they glance at her and she has the ability to help people learn and understand things more clearly. There was nothing in this book to keep me interested. It was written like it was a true l [...]

Susan and Brent's dreams come true when they are picked to adopt a newborn baby. They've waited for years for this chance, and everything seems so bright and perfect once they get baby Anna.Over time they come to realize that Anna has some special gifts-gifts that affect everyone in Anna's presence. Susan and Brent soon stress over the gifts and are constantly on guard to make sure Anna and those around her are ok.I had a hard time getting into this book. I'm not sure if it was the story or the [...]

Beautiful but sad. I predicted how the book was going to end and kept hoping that I was wrong. I wasn't. I cried a bunch. The love and kindness shown by the family in this book is inspiring. Karey White's writing style is very simplistic but still manages to draw me in. I always want to be more like the characters because they seem poised and thoughtful and careful with what they say. No unnecessary drama.
